 Our Story

Building Bonds Using Baby's Visual Development

We're parents who want to support others in their journey.

After the arrival of our little one, we looked for a way to foster the bond between baby and Dad, and later, other family members. We assumed that a magical moment of instant bonding would occur, but in reality it wasn't that simple.

Through extensive research, we discovered the power of gaze in fostering connection. By intentionally bringing the baby's eyes to Dad's, we saw tremendous progress and continued to engineer moments to nurture this connection.

Our Mission

Helping Parents Build Connection During Crucial Developmental Stages

We believe that sparking connection between baby and parent (or sibling, grandparent, etc.) is the first crucial step towards bonding. Understanding the science of a baby’s eyesight development and having gear already aligned to it helps.

This experience inspired us to start Lamb Gear, with the goal of helping families cultivate meaningful relationships from the beginning.

The Science Behind Our Designs

Lamb designs are grounded in vision science. Vision science is a field of study that focuses on the anatomy, physiology, and psychology of vision. When it comes to babies' eyesight development, vision science plays a crucial role in understanding how infants perceive and interpret visual information.

Baby's Visual Abilities by Months of Age

  • Birth to 1 month: Newborns can only see in black and white, with a focus range of about 8-12 inches. They are attracted to high-contrast patterns and edges.
  • 1-3 months: Babies start to see some colors and can track moving objects.
  • 4-6 months: Infants develop depth perception and can see objects in 3D.
  • 6-9 months: Babies start to understand object permanence (that objects still exist even when out of sight).
  • 9-12 months: Infants improve their hand-eye coordination and can see objects in more detail.
